In this randomized cross-over study, @Marianna__A (@uniofexeHLS) et al. show how a rediuction in amino acid availability across the menstrual cycle does not affect whole-body or muscle protein synthesis.

We show that consuming a protein drink via a nasogastric tube increases plasma amino acid and insulin concentrations, but does not influence whole body or muscle protein synthesis.

Grateful for a valuable 6 months postdoc-ing under the brilliant @DrBPCarson and @NortonNutrition. It's been a rewarding journey, and I'm excited for what lies ahead!
Thanks for having me, Gillian! We discussed:

@_PaulMorgan and thats before you start looking at daily, cumulative rates of MPS, which seem to produce sometimes unexpected results if you base your understanding on acute tracer infusion work, i.e. https://t.co/19hXqoDOar
@DrMyohead Absolutely! All worthwhile follow up questions that I want to know the answer to! Hopefully someone, somewhere will be chipping away at them given that RT is always a hot topic.
@DrBPCarson@DrMyohead@tsojameson@BenjaminTWall We did toy with the protein only idea, as well as having young vs old groups! Ultimately decided to stay focussed on the question, though, and that this 'baby step' was already massive enough - I think we'd end up with a PhD in supervising training sessions!
