Photos have emerged of a Cathay Pacific Airbus A330-300 that struck its tail while performing a go-around at Hong Kong International Airport last Friday.

"The aircraft subsequently landed safely at Hong Kong International Airport and was taxied to a parking bay where our passengers disembarked normally. There were no reports of injury among the operating crew or passengers on board. Our engineering team is performing a thorough inspection and will carry out the required maintenance before returning the aircraft to service," a statement said from the airline.

The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) said Cathay had reported the incident. The department in turn reported it to the Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA), following the established mechanism.

"CAD has requested the airline to submit a report and will cooperate with the AAIA to follow up on the incident," a department spokeswoman said.

Syrian authorities dismantle ISIS cell behind Damascus bombings following 7 July attacks

Syrian authorities have reportedly dismantled the cell responsible for the 7 July bombings, following a series of coordinated raids across Damascus and its surrounding countryside that led to approximately 30 arrests.

The attack last week near the Ministry of Tourism occurred during a high-profile state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron. The secondary blasts, caused by improvised explosive devices hidden in a vehicle and a trash container, resulted in 1 death and 36 injuries.

Investigators have preliminarily linked the cell to ISIS, citing surveillance evidence and the recovery of additional explosive caches, and are continuing to interrogate the detainees to map the full extent of the network. The Ministry of Interior has promised to release further details on the identities and roles of those captured once the ongoing investigations are finalized.
