@GPswampwarrior P.S. I saw at least 3 patients just on one day last week with significant mental health problems who would have seen absolutely zero of the mental health funding announced here https://t.co/9U1rqcYBdB
That would be just a normal day at work for me and many other GPs.
@GPswampwarrior And, if you haven't buIlt equity into your strategy FROM THE VERY START, I can pretty much guarantee that you will be worsening health outcomes for those that need you most.
Sorry - typo..
The ridiculous fine is $20,000.
For a doctor. Ordering a test they judge a patient might benefit from. At no expense to the govt. With plentiful resource.
The Fine for the lab? $100K.
Tell me how that helps the control of covid19 in any positive way.
The COVID app is not like sunscreen! Please don’t use metaphors that suggest it provides protection.
It’s just a tool for contact tracing. Closer maybe to the SunSmart app..? @ScottMorrisonMP
Very happy to partner with @LizSturgiss@Danielle_Mazza @GkSpurling and Teng Liaw on writing this important @theMJA perspectives piece. More than ever we require strong general practice research, which requires strong funding and career pathways. @UniMelbMDHS @MACHAustralia
In the next week we'll be launching the good thing that is Pandemic Kindness Australia
to support health worker wellbeing during COVID-19 & beyond.
It's clinician led & we've got the most extraordinary team of people across Australia involved.
So far we have Vic, NSW, Qld & SA
I send this guide to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander terminology to students and colleagues regularly - thanks to @SummerMayFinlay for putting it together. And @whatsupdatadoc for alerting me to it

How about top face to face primary care *non-acute* interventions/examinations/tests that will quickly make a difference for patients? #covid19australia
Anyone know about rates of mask fit test failure in women versus men? @CCriadoPerez? - "71% of women across a range of industries wear protective work clothing that isn’t designed for women’s body size and shapes" - do you have any data on healthcare specific PPE?
Thank you!! “COVID 19 is not a great leveller” overcome with “strength and fortitude”. The disease disproportionately affects lower income workers because they are more likely to be exposed and lower income residents of crowded housing.

Private telehealth billing now allowed!
“Govt is continuing to look at what needs to be done to ensure the viability of GP… it is an imperative to make sure that as we … look beyond the pandemic.. we still have the services ..people need”

Also very concerned about the recent disruption of referral pathways for our patients requiring acute care, who do not have COVID-19. Here is a possible solution.
General Practitioners face this without acknowledgement that we are frontline to this impossible problem of inadequate amounts of PPE and the unknown asymptomatic patient in the community.
We are the hospital in the community exposed to this.

Most GPs want to make a difference. COVID, with its chaotic, invisible & deeply unnerving threats, triggers that sense of purpose. This uncertain world is our space. It’s what we trained for, & it’s what we will continue to do. https://t.co/Qqr0tWF2Js
