@DrWallBolton Or it’s a simple misunderstanding? As a locum I hand out a mini CV of me (downloaded from NASGP) that explains to patients that although I’m only there for the session, I do work full time.
@THCPrimarycare really enjoying some of the podcasts of yours I have listened to, but never really any mention about us locums. Where do you think we fit in with all of what’s going on at the moment?
@clairedocdavies So true. In fact, when was the last time a major or transformational change ever actually lead to a better outcome (apart from, to the politician who announced it)?
@pallantmedical Isn’t this just a normal part of locuming, short or long term? I’m used to a practice telling me how they communicate, and just go along with that.
@DrSteveTaylor@DrSelvarajah But that says ‘Regular locum’, what about ad hoc locum? If that figure what is true, that would suggest there is just one locum for every five practices!! I don’t believe that for a second.
@GPforhire This is how patients are as they try to book an appointment to see their GP - and they’re actually ill. It’s important that we don’t let this defeat us.
@scottishphil83 I don’t think a diagnosis of depression is as ever black and white for me to be able to have a set plan for treatment. It’s always so dependent on the patient and their context.
@dralisonj Don’t blame the individuals, it’s a system failure surely? If I’d just done a 12 hour day on that room I possibly would have left it in the same mess.
@Lesley_Faith We should all be doing that anyway. As a locum, because I can’t always rely on the notes, and I’ve never met the patient before, I _have_ to listen, and I have no assumptions.
