@ChrisSmithPF@EdConwaySky@continuum_ind Planning and construction of new lines takes 11-13 years in the UK. There will be no energy transition without transmission though, so that's a big blocker for 2030 targets
Happy to chat about what the challenges are and how to speed things up @EdConwaySky
π·π½ββοΈ When engineers use AI to design linear projects, how does it change their approach? And what does the workflow look like?

Andy is lifting the lid of our optimisation engine in this new blog post - give it a read if you've ever wondered about engineers working alongside machines
Straight out of the oven from our Chief Scientist, Andreas Malekos!
"So, you want to run some algorithms and start doing some serious optimisation? But youβre worried about βgarbage in, garbage out'. Well, this is the blog post for you then."

This is part of our push to develop a single tool for design optioneering that provides top optimisation performance for all types of linear infrastructure, anywhere in the world.
Developing optimisation algorithms is hard on its own but developing algorithms that work in any circumstances by adapting to the changing conditions is way harder.
Emma and her team are leading the global research on this front and I'm super pumped that can work together.
We would like to welcome Prof. Emma Hart @HartEmma who has joined us as a technical adviser!
Emma is an expert in learning and optimisation algorithms.
We will be researching how we can improve our algorithms to make them more resilient to the changing problem conditions.
We're also opening up limited access to an early adopter programme - if you design or plan railways, power transmission lines, pipelines or roads let me know and we can discuss whether this programme could be a good fit for your firm.
Last week we announced our Β£1.5m seed round.
This time I wanted to share a short blog post about what inspired us to develop a new tool for infrastructure designers and what this funding means for our users and customers.
We are very excited to share more detail about our product, plans, partners and funding!

@paul_a_smith @continuum_ind That would be awesome. We actually "moved into" @CodeBaseEDI in March after you initially connected us with @drostyboy back in 2018 so we can catch up over there in good company :)
Super happy to finally start sharing what we've been up to over the last two years.
This post covers the fundamentals of our existence - improving the infrastructure and making it faster to implement.
We have loads of cool stuff to show and talk about over the next few weeks!
We are re-emerging from the shadows with our first blog post written by @MrAdam_A!
Adam discusses how Continuum Industries combines old ideas with new technologies to create next-generation engineering design tools for linear infrastructure design.

How should the industry go about new tech as disruptive as hyperloop? Do we even have methods to work with new tech in infrastructure to make it useful?
@continuum_ind might have some answers.
Thank you @ACE_Updates for hosting and to Sir John Armitt for chairing the discussion
ACE's Chief Executive @HannahVickers4 attended @infra_intel Round Table last night sponsored by @CostainGroup. This was a fantastic event chaired by Sir John Armitt. Guest speaker @MrAdam_A explored many issues affecting our industry.
Very excited to share that we have secured seed investment for @continuum_ind to take over the world of transport systems modelling and implementation. And yes, we are starting with hyperloop.
As the team at @continuum_ind starts to realise our vision for how transportation systems should be implemented, Matt and myself wrote couple thoughts for the @beisgovuk Industrial Strategy blog.
