@AnthonyDiComo You can make argument that Wheeler has been best pitcher of the 5 the Mets had back in 2015 between Wheeler, deGrom, Harvey, Syndegard, and Matz in terms of being able to stay healthy + perform at a high level. deGrom obviously dominant when he pitches but unable to stay healthy

@DCBarno We definitely need another big I think. If they were going hard after HD I would think they now pivot to a plan B option that you would think they would have in case they missed on him. The question becomes who they can and will target next in the portal ? Any names out there ?

@Jeff_Ermann I am not very confident at all. From his words a few days ago on the Podcast I am thinking he picks Villanova. Hoping I am wrong and he becomes a Terp. If he doesn't choose UMD I am hoping they quickly pivot to another big who can step in and be a big contributor

@Jeff_Ermann @ChrisFisher247 Terps must have a contingency plan in place so they can quickly pivot to another big in the portal if HD ends up not choosing them. Although the lure of coming home and playing on a good team is enticing it is hard to compete against KU and UK in terms of NIL and prestige

@Jeff_Ermann I would assume this would be one of those instances where a lot of the better 4/5s that are in the portal may wait for HD to make his decision before they make one since teams going after HD will have a need and pivot to other highly regarded 4/5s if they don’t land him

@Jeff_Ermann I also love what Ian Martinez brought to the table this year and was also much improved from this first year in College Park. Need guys like him on the roster and part of the rotation. The game changes when he is in there on the defensive side of the ball and he brings a spark
