Here's the tea 🫖 as someone who teaches soft skills to adults:
Teaching soft skills to adults is annoying.
The truth is soft skills are muscles that need to be flexed at all stages of life - especially when it comes to work.
How to introduce yourself!👇
...without sounding too "salesy".
Find the through line between these three things:
👩💼 Who you are
🫶 What you care about
💼 What you do
& remember, it's ok to sound excited about the work that you do!
“The Goddess Guide to Branding: Your Blueprint for Building an Abundant & Authentic Feminine Brand” gives a fun new way to think about the energy you have versus the energy you want to put into the universe in a given scenario. 💃
I’m a Persephone, which goddess resonates with you?
“Upper management doesn’t care about most things.”
False. They care about what matters. 🎯
At higher levels, it’s all about discernment: filtering endless demands and focusing on what drives results. It’s not indifference—it’s strategic focus.
Do you see this in your workplace? Let’s discuss.
How to practice discernment ⤵️
1. Put yourself at the birds eye view of a situation
2. Think about a problem that comes up
3. Think of all the other problems that can come up
Now - Which solutions are going to have the biggest impact on allowing me to achieve my goal / solve the problems?
Discernment is about figuring out which problems need to be prioritized ☝️ , sifting through all of the noise, to ultimately have efficient impact on your work. 🚀

To be excellent at discernment in a meeting, particularly in this scenario where expectations aren't aligning, you need to:
- Identify the problems and misalignments
- Prioritize solving for greatest impact
- Keep things moving, finding resolution without any escalated conflict.
🚀3 Steps to revive your passive team🚀
No better time than January to reset with your team, set new goals together, and get them excited about what's to come.
1. As a team leader understand what's important to your team. The goals they have, how they're working towards it, and what each individual is contributing to accomplish the goal.
2. Sit everyone down to set expectations that identify how each team member contributes to the team's goals.
3. Have monthly check-ins to track how everyone is doing on the goals they set for themselves and the team as a whole.
Stop calling out every single mistake you see at work—it's giving "tattletale" energy.
Instead, identify the rate at which these errors impact what you do, and set a threshold for real errors that can impact the business (if there isn't already a threshold / margin for error established). That's when to speak up!
discernment 🤝 self awareness
The context for this question is everything, but you need to look at the big picture. What's your role, how do the errors impact your work? (more in part 2)
No notes at all 😌
This comment was on my viral video about discernment. I get a LOT of comments but remember bookmarking this because I couldn't have put it any better.
It's just so good. That's all.

A hard truth —
Indicators that you're crushing it as a manager? Being liked by your team yet ALSO being respected by upper management.
Indicators that you're not crushing it? You're stuck and having a hard time moving up the ladder.
Getting people to listen to you is VITAL to your career growth. You need to flex your communication skills, especially if you're managing up 👆
You can be a great manager to your team, but if upper management doesn't listen to and respect you, you're going to have a hard time growing and moving forward.
Couple things to consider here👇
1. Is there a path to be an individual contributor where you are now? Take a good look at the individual contributors in your org. Do you like how ICs are rewarded?
2. Take a good look at the senior executives in your org. Did any of them get there as an IC, or were they managers? (if they're all managers...you probably need to be a manager to move up)
It then becomes a question of not how or can, but do you WANT to be in the position where you have to manage a team vs being an individual contributor.
Weigh your options and preferences against your org's structure and choose what's best for YOU.
It's your career, not your managers.

Networking feels awkward? That’s because it is.
Nobody’s comfortable. Everyone’s faking it. Here’s how to flip the script:
✅ Don’t aim to impress. Aim to connect.
✅ Be curious. Make them feel interesting.
The best conversations happen when you stop trying to “prove” yourself. Just show up, be real, and engage. 🗣️
