I’m from Allen, TX.
I grew up 2 miles from the Outlet Mall and my family still lives there.
Collective trauma shouldn’t be normalized in Texas.
To our state leadership, DO something.
Your politicized inaction is clear, unconscionable complacency.

What does hate look like in America? My undergraduates have spent weeks digging into bias around the country, poring over court records, hunting for witnesses and interviewing victims and experts.
In my NYU journalism class, we have chosen hate crimes to report on and investigate. In 2020 alone, at least 44 transgender or gender non-conforming individuals were victims of fatal anti-LGBT violence.
Many of these victims go unidentified because they are often misgendered in police reports and the media. This adds insult to injury and creates a gap in data and hate crime statistics.
Mark Townsend can often be seen outside of Gristedes saying "One penny's all we ask". He is a friendly face to all. On Friday, he had a heart attack and is on life support. His brother is raising money for medical bills. Please donate if you can and share: https://t.co/DJWuANi0xn
When politicians use faith as an excuse to pass and uphold laws that seize control of people’s bodies but not guarantee them healthcare, feed the poor, shelter the homeless, or welcome the stranger, you have to wonder if it’s really about faith at all.
