@hankgreen I personally do! I can’t say the same for all teachers. I try to teach it like “here are some guidelines to help us say if something could be living” it’s all so confusing and I hate that we test on it.
@hankgreen I’m a biology teacher. We teach the “7 characteristics of life”. Not that I fully think that’s it but that’s how we teach it for the state test. They never fully understand a definition of life though
@GlitterBombCos I learned that adults are just as bad as high schoolers. Literally the same problems I have to guide my 13/14 year olds through I also have to y’all adults through
@jinglebayls I agree. I wanted to stay in touch with my kids. They’re my babies. But I’m gonna be a little busy... it’s not like grading their work will actually help them, I’ll be too tired to provide anything useful!
@jinglebayls I’m about to take maternity leave in October and was basically told I’ll still need to check in at least once a week to grab papers to grade/ensure my data is caught up. 🙃
Schools in Texas are preparing teachers for back to school by hosting a webinar on how to write a will and prepare families for loss of a family member.
@TundeTimes Yeah, husband and I have a friend who lives in Houston. The district sent out a message stating they’ll prepare them for “additional family stresses” like creating a will.
@jinglebayls At the board meeting for our county, the superintendent said teacher’s concerns were being addressed individually. I never once felt safe expressing my concerns, I dont want to lose my job.
