Interesting thread that has the same key player as my @ukings j-school honours project: Brian Timpone.

Where did Trump voters get their news? 📰
Yes, there's social and partisan sites, but there is another influential strategy that isn't getting enough attention: Manipulated, pay-to-play and all out fake news sites
I've been covering a mix of those for years. Here's a primer

Congratulations to Tyler Olsen (@ty_olsen) of Fraser Valley Current (@currentfv) for “How an Ohio Newspaper Sank a B.C. Publishing Empire”

I am so glad Tyler let me go wild with this idea. These history editions are full of delightful history features (this month’s especially), links to old news stories (from the 1890s to the 2000s), snippets of reader-submitted stories, and a featured artifact from an FV museum.
HISTORY HISTORY HISTORY: Every month we publish a newsletter just about history in the Fraser Valley. It's the brainchild of @gracekenn. Our October one is very good. You can find it here (for a short time): https://t.co/p2nRmb0wUE
Future stories will likely include a look at a world renowned doctor and scientist who got her start in Harrison Mills, an exploration of holiday traditions through the years, and much much more.

one of the most easily-disproven denial points is that "not a single body" has been found at residential schools. Cowessess First Nation, which found 751 unmarked graves at the Marieval residential school in 2021, has identified over 300 bodies: https://t.co/2XPdyttjLt
I filed a federal access request with Fisheries and Oceans and they asked me for "Clarification on what the requester means by “records”."
It is defined in the Access to Information Act, and is probably the most basic part of access law.
The effort to save @hakaimagazine.com is fully underway. So far, we've lined up commitments worth about half of what we need to keep publishing. Ideally, we want one or two more large foundations or donations to give us a solid floor before we throw the doors to reader donations.
