@GwynethTerry7 In order to give students a well rounded education in multiple genres of music, it's important to listen to their input when it comes to choosing pieces. When picking repertoire for a concert, let the students vote on their favorite song in each genre.

@jgrimsleyjmu In class time, I would prefer more traditional non-digital methods. However, outside of class time when it comes to individual growth as students, I would implement more digital learning. This offers them the resources that teachers can't do on their own outside of class time.

@GwynethTerry7 It's important to make it clear that popular music and classical music are complicated in their own specific ways. While classical music is harmonically more complicated, popular music is more complicated in different aspects. Thay doesn't make on genre better than the other.

@BagayJohanna Of course! However, there are different kinds of music technology. Technically, all of the instruments and resources we have been using for centuries is considered music technology. So in short, music technology is always there, it is just evolving more into the digital age.

@scarlettmued Music technology assignments can be very beneficial for getting students interested in the different types of software, but mandatory assignments can be a bit of a stretch. Maybe if teachers give an assignment that requires tech but doesn't specify what kind of software they use?

@MatthewMee9 Pop music can be a great way to demonstrate basic fundamentals of music, and it could help students retain the material because it connects to something that they are more familiar with. So, it could even be beneficial if teachers incorporate pop music into their lesson plans.

When my group sang "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", we showed that the importance of music education is to bring people together as one in order to make music. Musicianship is being able to listen to one another and building off of each other's ideas. #JMUMusTech
