When I was diagnosed with ALS I was told to "bank" my voice. So I did. I read 1,800 sentences into a computer software program.

This week we loaded my voice onto my eye gaze tablet. The intonation is not quite right but it's the clearest I have spoken in months.

That's a win.

A year ago,today I was in a coma. Speech and language therapists have come across to the intensive care unit to help look after us. They write in my Patient Diary: '...recording your vitals...repositioning you to help with your lung perfusion...you're sleeping peacefully...'
