Lionel Messi no estuvo presente.
MUCHA FUERZA, LEO ❤️🇦🇷
DESCANSA EN PAZ, JORGE MESSI.
🚨 Sergio Agüero on Lionel Messi after the passing of his father Jorge:
🗣“When I got the news, I broke down. I’ve never felt something like this before. I’ve never lost someone this close to me. Jorge was one of the greatest men I’ve ever known. He had such a huge influence on Leo, and I know this is going to take a massive toll on him.
I called Leo after it happened, and I’ve never heard him this down before. It was the most emotional I’ve ever heard him. You could hear the pain in his voice.
What makes it even harder is that before Jorge’s passing, the world media, especially in England, were portraying Leo as some arrogant person without knowing even a fraction of what he was going through privately. It was truly despicable. The media is always so quick to judge someone without knowing what is happening behind the scenes.
It hasn’t been easy for Leo lately. He had the heartbreak of the World Cup final, and now, just weeks later, he has lost his father. That’s not easy for anyone to go through. He’s human before he’s a footballer.
During and even before the World Cup, Leo was already going through a difficult period. Whenever I spoke with him, he didn’t seem happy. He wasn’t able to be as close to his dad as he wanted when he needed him the most, and then having to return to the MLS season without properly spending time with his family made everything even harder.
I think that’s what made Leo even more emotional. He’s been carrying a lot more than people realise, and sometimes people forget there’s a human being behind the footballer.”
🚨Rodrigo De Paul on his friendship with Lionel Messi:
🎙️ Reporter: “Rodrigo, your friendship with Lionel Messi seems to go far beyond football. What does he mean to you?”
🗣️ Rodrigo De Paul:
“Leo has always been there for me, not just as a teammate but as a person. He’s supported me and my family through some of the most difficult moments in our lives.
When my mom was battling cancer, Leo never stopped checking on us. He would call almost every day, asking how she was doing and asking how I was coping. Whenever he could, he would come and visit. Those are things people don’t see because he never does them for attention.
He never left my side. In moments when I felt weak, he reminded me to stay strong. That’s something I’ll never forget. He showed me what kind of man he really is.
Throughout my career, he’s always believed in me. He’s given me confidence, encouraged me and treated me like family. I’m incredibly lucky to call him my teammate, but even luckier to call him my brother.
People see the greatest footballer in history. I see someone with an enormous heart who genuinely cares about the people around him. That’s why everyone who shares a dressing room with him has so much respect for him.
I’ll always be grateful for everything he’s done for me and my family. Some things are bigger than football, and Leo has proven that to me time and time again.”
