My friend earns 400,000 naira monthly. His girlfriend works at a bank and earns about 150,000 naira.

Earlier this year, she told him she was pregnant. He was happy and ready to marry her. But she said he needed to get a car first as she could not be moving around with a baby under the sun.

He agreed.

She opened an account and told him that was where they would save for the delivery and to get a car. He was dropping 300,000 naira monthly while she dropped 50,000 naira from her salary.

He kept asking her to join him for scans and checkups. She always had an excuse.

Today, he found out she had traveled out of the country for her master's degree.

From my calculations, he had deposited about 1.5 million naira into that account. I thought that was all she took.

Then he told me he had deposited an extra 2 million naira two months ago so they could hit their budget ahead of time.

She cleaned everything.

And the pregnancy? She aborted it in April.

@prince_dc21__ Sha make sure your daughters are well to do on their own too, marriage isn't a poverty alleviation scheme. This mentality brought about the problems we're seeing in marriages today.

Everyone should be financially stable on their own before going into marriage at least.
