Gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy's three signature tax proposals — eliminating the income tax, repealing the capital gains tax, and rolling back property taxes — would shift $9.8 billion in annual costs from the wealthy and corporations to working and low-income Ohioans through higher sales and property taxes, according to analyses by the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, Policy Matters Ohio, and Innovation Ohio. Ramaswamy reported $1.1 million in dividends and capital gains in 2025, including $768,968 from a stock sale that would be tax-exempt under his own proposal.
