@b332960923 @MarkOrmrod @catkinson80 Going towards net zero is producing new jobs and industries that are sustainable into the future. We must not follow the ‘drill’ dinosaurs. The gov has successfully ‘capped’ our fuel costs which is all that can be done with independent companies. There are no quick fixes!

@MarkOrmrod @catkinson80 That analysis speaks to the narrative that those needing benefit payments are lazy and have no intention of working or paying taxes. No one knows when any of us might be in need of some help from the state and that help must be provided. We need some proper statistics to support.

@MarkOrmrod @catkinson80 But surely that’s how the system works: we all pay taxes according to our means, the government uses that income to do things like run the NHS, tackle child poverty, etc. To a large degree, rising energy bills are the result of instability worldwide and events beyond our control.
