Years ago, Serbian #wheat seeds went to the #Svalbard Vault. Now, in the Grainefit #BenefitSharingFund project with @planttreaty , we brought back spikes & #seeds from the Serbian #GeneBank — to create a herbarium that makes this #diversity visible.

New lab equipment delivered to IRGR Sadovo, Bulgaria under the #Grainefit #project - #BenefitSharingFund of @planttreaty.

GRAINEFIT team of the @planttreaty's #BenefitSharingFund project visited Peshter with an altitude above 1100 m & very harsh winters.

Farmers here cultivate local cereals. The #climatechange is evident. The winter this year was with no show & the harvest started a month earlier.

Bunjevci have a wonderful 100-year long tradition of #harvest celebration. The event Dužijanca preserves #traditions and recalls old local customs through demonstration of #farmers' working day, with breakfast in the #field, #straw weaving and #wheat mowing.

More farmers grow local traditional wheats. They recognize the value of Banatka due to its high quality & low-input. On fertile soils Banatka tends to lodge. In Čenej, Banatka is healthy & developing nicely. We expect good yields.
