Many people don’t have the confidence to grow or forage food, and to prepare it to keep.
Everyone has the skills.
Now, more than ever, let’s build the confidence.
@2147mill 18 year old Mazda MX5.
→ £3.6k down.
→£180 a year insurance
→£370 a year car tax
Negligible parts and maintenance costs, far better driving experience than any BMW.
→ Sold for £4.2k two years later
@contractorkeith This isn’t a full story.
I pay £x into my pension, with appropriate employer matching, which is of course invested.
I could reduce my pension contributions to overpay my mortgage but that would be utterly stupid because of the tax relief and employer matching.
Riddle me this. Two packs of the same stuff. 1650ml achieves a claimed 50 washes. So the larger 101 washes should be just over 3300ml. And yet it’s 3131ml.
Does Ariel liquid know that when it’s put in a bigger pack it has to be more efficient? Or just a rip off…
The grape vine has done me proud again; this year back to doing more juice (some of which I’ll freeze).
It really is as simple as harvest, wash, warm press, strain, chill and drink! 🍇
I’m sorry, but it’s mushroom season!
Boletus edulis, the penny bun or porcini, in absolute abundance! Some drying, some made into the most luxurious soup!
I knew it would be a good season for mushrooms!
Agaricus campestris, picked just now - closely related to the ordinary mushrooms in the shops, but a superior delicate taste and of course free!
#mushrooms#foraging
@SueStell Sue, absolutely - one of the best in years. Amazing season for apples, plums, lots of hazelnuts (if you can beat the 🐿️!), chestnuts looking good and hopefully the wild mushrooms will do well too!
@sheebadigeebies Elderly lady in an EV got confused in a car park and hit the accelerator not the brake (and EVs accelerate fast), writing off my car and two others and costing me over £3k. Just metal damaged, not bones in this case.
So, nope, sorry. Mandatory retests and no self certification.
@GrampsPlot Based on your tweets about foraging, home-growing produce, and self-sufficient living, you most resemble Tom Good from the classic British sitcom "The Good Life" – the ever-optimistic suburbanite turning his plot into a mini-farm. Flattered?
I am going to ask Grok that trend question, and I am deeply concerned (or maybe flattered) it might reference certain famous sitcom involving two couples in a suburb of South London which I won’t mention as I don’t want to influence it too much.
Simply soften the whole plums with sugar. Red plums are best for colour, but it doesn’t matter. Add chillies to taste half way through cooking.
Strain, remove the stones and chillies. Reheat with a little red wine or cider vinegar. ✅
It’s been an amazing year for the wild plums - best I can think of.
To preserve, at least for a while, those summer flavours I’ve done a chillie🌶️ and plum sauce.
