I think conservatives are correct when they say some people virtue signal. We see this across society; it's not limited to any specific group. IMO, some people posture like they're Christian, but also worship wealth and physical appearance, because they want to signal virtue without actually embodying virtue. This virtue signaling is also connected to status games.
