Don’t miss @culturelinksllc presentation “Walking in their shoes: Powerful Insight into the Minds of English Language Learners and their families” 1:15pm-2:15pm Alexandria Ballroom @MABE_MI @mrandrewrodgers #mabe2018#miched
@Mr_Szot I agree with the opportunities for the students to assess themselves and their peers more often. After all, they will be out in the world together one day, doing just that.
A7: To ensure #growthmindset-conscious assessments I can let my students know what I expect up front; outline the expectations and out comes so that they are transparent and easy to understand. I will also explain to my students that it is ok to struggle! That's how we learn!
@Mr_Szot Oh, I agree with you! These are just some things that I feel throw me off a bit while trying to understand some students. #growthmindset#AltRtEd
A4: I have students that are very introverted and seem to lack interest in class. I also have students that give up to easily because "it's too hard". To me,this would appear to be a fixed mindset. #growthmindset#AltRtEd
A6: There is a difference between applauding effort and intelligence. Talent versus commitment. Some people are naturally brilliant or skilled in a craft but that does not make them more valuable. Some have to work a little hard to achieve greatness. #Growthmindset#AltRtEd

If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, seek new strategies, and keep learning!
Don’t praise their brains and talent!
#GrowthMindset
A5: Framing gives students an idea of your expectations. By making these known in a positive manner early on and being reminded every so often, they will follow your example and be more will to have a #Growthmindset. #AltRtEd
A3: To promote a #Growthmindset environment, I will be warm and positive while still giving honest feedback. I would like to think my classroom is a comfortable place to be in and where there is always something new to try. A place where mistakes are encouraged! #AltRtEd
@CristinaSteriti Lol, I make mistakes ALL the time! At first the kids would stare at me like "OMG a teacher just made a mistake" but I just laugh. I think this brought ease to them....
@Mr_Szot Yes! I agree...part of the reason we became teacher is that we love to learn (at least that was part of my reasoning 😊) and you can't learn without making mistakes.
A2: To model a #growthmindset in the classroom, teachers could make their own learning and self improvement very transparent. We could make our mistakes known and share how we are growing/learning from them. Show them that it is ok to make a mistake! #AltRtEd
@CaitlinFenning I feel like this is so important for all of us and in these times everyone is all about self improvement which I feel is so wonderful! #growthmindset
It’s publication day for my new book for children! About helping youngsters ditch their fear of failure and become more confident and resilient. Please Retweet #GrowthMindset https://t.co/IDL1PikZpw
A1: Mindset plays a HUGE part in if we succeed or not...as the saying goes, mind over matter! I truly believe that a person can accomplish anything they put their mind to. But also on the contrary, can set themselves up for failure. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
