The original canal blogger, started July 2003, fell overboard Aug 2012.

@JamesMelville I only just learned you blocked me on my other account. It's not a big deal, but because I admire & understand your views I have no idea why you did it. It would be great if one was able to explain to others why one was blocking. Social media has a long way to go.
@Mike_Fabricant He should be staring at us, his eyes following us around the room, as if to say “Are you spending this wisely? Think again!”
And wearing a crown.
A very rare event will be visible in the night sky. On the evening of 28 February 2025, all seven of the other planets in the Solar System will appear in the night sky at the same time, with Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars all lining up in a neat row
@GeoffNorcott@TimesRadio Getting my narrowboat to Birmingham so friends can join me as I promised them. I’m clicking my heels because there’s a flood at Alrewas preventing me from continuing the journey.
Supermarkets should commit to moving at least 10% of their logistics from road haulage to horse drawn canal barges. The demand for tins is stable, so there's no harm in them taking a bit longer to move around. Huge environmental benefits, though.
@I_am_Contented With the best will in the world I don’t understand this. I don’t have a problem with vexatious content. Perhaps because I only use the “following” tab instead of the “for you” algorithm?
"The Apprenticed Lightermen" (1963). How fast this was about to be swept away by containerisation! https://t.co/KBzUlmOKDn Notice the lack of lifejackets, yet the training on how to swim in your clothes. You don't see it now because it's no longer your job to look after yourself.
@kevincox4 @DCTTrips Obviously you have. I think his point is he wants you to fork out taxpayer money to pay an artist to paint the picture. It’s a bit like my old school demanding I use a fountain pen instead of a biro.
@pigsonthewing@sarahprobert As a photographer who trained 50 years ago, my german college lecturer imbued in me a hatred of 'tilted horizons und conferging ferticals', so I fixed it for you all (It was hugely harder to do this in the 1970s).
