May the best Agent win.
Something I genuinely don’t understand about parts of The Division 2 community is why some people believe that because they enjoy playing the game a certain way, everyone else should have to play it that way too.
I completely understand that my content isn’t always going to appeal to players who only care about the absolute meta, perfect min-maxing, spreadsheets and the most optimal setup for every possible scenario. That’s fine. There are creators who specialise in exactly that type of content.
But what I don’t understand is the attitude that anything outside of that is somehow pointless or shouldn’t exist.
I’ll post a Foundry Bulwark shield build and get comments like, “Now do it without the shield,” or, “Now use it in Escalation.”
But it’s clearly a shield build. It isn’t labelled as an Escalation build. Not every build is designed for every activity, and not every creator is trying to make the exact same type of content.
If every player only used the single most mathematically optimal build, we’d have thousands of people running exactly the same setup and every content creator uploading the same video with one gear piece changed.
What would even be the point?
It’s called being a content creator because you’re creating something based around your own ideas, playstyle and personality. People then choose who they watch because they enjoy that creator and the type of content they make.
We don’t need fifteen creators uploading another slightly different version of the same Striker, Prototype LMG Escalation build. There’s nothing wrong with those builds, but the game needs variety too.
I’m not saying every build I make is completely original or that I never revisit old favourites, but I do try to push builds that are fun, usable and different from what everyone else is currently posting.
More people need to start enjoying the game instead of treating it like there’s only one correct way to play it.
Use the meta. Min-max everything. Chase the perfect numbers. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Just stop acting like everyone else has to.
