Update on Homicide Investigation
On June 8, 2026, a homicide occurred at 2600 John Ashley Drive (Jefferson Manor Apartments). Detectives have identified Cecil Brooks Jr. as a suspect in this case. He is currently wanted for Capital Murder

Yesterday, GPD and GFD were dispatched to Grapevine Lake, where a Tesla Cybertruck was stranded in the water. The driver drove into the lake to use the “Wade Mode” feature when the vehicle became disabled. The passengers abandoned the vehicle and the driver was arrested.

*NLRPD Investigating Early Morning Homicide*
On March 6, 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Officers with NLRPD responded to the 1400 block of N. Magnolia St. in reference to a report of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male inside a residence, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives were notified and responded to the scene to initiate a homicide investigation. Detectives are currently processing evidence and conducting interviews.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending the notification of the next of kin.

**Homicide Case Information**
On March 3, 2026, at approximately 6:28 a.m., officers with NLRPD responded to 2401 Lakeview Road (Foothills Apartments) in reference to a report of gunshots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located 47-year-old Russell Taylor, of NLR, inside an apartment suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, who has been identified as 41-year-old Courtney Taylor of NLR, was located at the scene and taken into police custody without incident. Officers learned that the victim and suspect were brothers.
Detectives were notified and responded to the scene to initiate a homicide investigation. Following an interview with detectives, Courtney Taylor was charged with:
• One count of Capital Murder
• One count of Possession of firearms by certain persons
• One count of Possession of schedule II (cocaine) with the purpose to deliver
• One count of Possession of schedule II (Oxycodone) with the purpose to deliver
• One count of Possession of schedule II (Hydrocodone) with the purpose to deliver
• One count of Possession of schedule VI with the purpose to deliver
Courtney Taylor has been transported to the PCRDF and is currently being held without bond.

On 03-03-26 at approx. 6:26am, Officers with NLRPD responded to area of 2401 Lakeview Road (Foothills Apartment Complex) to a report of shots fired. When officers arrived they located a deceased adult male. Detectives are currently conducting a homicide investigation.

UPDATE: Emergency bridge deck repair on the I-40 Mississippi River Bridge
The concrete has been poured and we're now allowing it to cure as quickly & safely as possible. We're doing everything we can to reopen the eastbound right and center lanes as soon as it's safe to do so.
