Back to earth and gardening after a busy #doorsopenday2019 at #GrantonCastleGarden with over 400 visitors. Many thanks to volunteers!
Today harvesting heritage winter squash and chopping weeds in the community orchard @KSBScotland @thecockburn@GreenerGranton
@MedievalPigment hello and a request for a bit of community outreach/plantswapping with #GrantonCastleGarden. We have baby hollyhocks in abundance and wondered if you would like some for your pigment garden? Would like to grow woad and wondered if you had any seedheads spare?
Back at the garden Weds from 10-12 for the early morning volunteer session. Lots of seed sowing, weeding and path making. Little bit of weaving too if anyone keen Thanks to Ashley Erdman for the beautiful record of progress #GrantonCastleGarden https://t.co/NPeJJykVcV
@MedievalPigment@NatGalleriesSco love this idea of travelling in time with colour and the ancient processes of extracting dyes from plants. Have been experimenting at #GrantonCastleGarden and would love to chat madder roots. Indigo next!
@TheBotanics@RBGE_Science Still think we should plant more though where there is space and habitat. Planted a small stand of them under the baby damsons along with native ferns already established. The rabbits don't eat them!
Mark the date Friday 10th May and come along to Granton Castle Garden for our mural making event at #GrantonCastleGarden. Please let us know if you are coming along by booking through eventbrite @TRIMandFOWP @NatGalleriesSco \https://t.co/W8eBOS0ITn
@craftygreenpoet @SecretEdin Thanks for sharing and visiting our paradise garden in the making. Maybe you would like to return and write at the garden with the willow tree ink? A lovely soft purply pink. Good for washes too if painting.
@EdinburghShore1 look forward to using this Activity Pack at the beach this summer and maybe even combining with our Mural at the garden!..watch this space
Huge thanks to Ross MacRae for his beautiful work, worth the wait for this improvised mural helping to bring the history of this medieval walled garden to life. #GrantonCastleGarden@PathsforAll thankyou for the support! @EdinburghShore1 @TRIMandFOWP
A walled oasis being rediscovered in Granton.
Sketches from another day at this emerging gem of a garden down by the north Edinburgh shoreline. Including this stone dovecote at @grantoncastle

A beautifully illustrated guide to Edinburgh's shore and life you might find there. We hope to celebrate the walled garden's historic links with the shore on the 4th May Open Day, when Henry VIII's troops came ashore at Granton Beach to burn Edinburgh @ScotUrbanPast @sglheritage
We're delighted to be able to share a new resource of fun activities which schools, families and groups can do to explore, celebrate and conserve our shoreline!

@wardiebaybeach@edinsketcher The first was started from fresh willow twigs, steeped and simmered in water with a little washing soda for alkalinity. Resulting solution concentrated, filtered and mixed with stabiliser. Susan's first recipe is written beautifully in the ink.
@wardiebaybeach@edinsketcher come along to the garden and you can try some, we have samples there if you come with paper and feel like drawing at the garden? A lazy Sunday from 11-1pm maybe?
