@maitiumacriceid@BBCNewsNI@QUBelfast Yeah it’s so much cheaper and faster than the 238! I commuted using it for years when I was working on days I knew I would be getting out of work before six pm. If you want to do something after that time though (which isn’t unreasonable) forget it!
Outgoing, fired defense minister Yoav Gallant tells families of hostages that Israel is done with its military operations in Gaza, that there is no reason to stay in Philadelphi and that the IDF remaining in Gaza is endangering soldiers’ lives.
@RMTunion@thetrainline Also astounding that @thetrainline app has always hidden @TfL Oyster/Contactless fares thereby charging passengers hundreds of percentage points more than it would be on Oyster/Contactless. This fare from Watford to Streatham is 348% more expensive on their app 🤯
@MarkRobinsonNI@BBCNewsNI@QUBelfast That bus takes an hour longer than driving *each way*. We gotta make choices absolutely- to make infrastructure better
Despite the horrors in northern Gaza, @MedicalAidPal's team have managed to help establish a paediatric intensive care unit in the Patients' Friends Benevolent Society Hospital in Gaza City. Truly life-saving work.

@SeamusNolan9 @BBCNewsNI@QUBelfast I commuted during my masters as I had no student loan for it and had to pay for the masters as I did it, couldn’t do that an pay rent, even with rents so low then. I think I’m being told elsewhere that those commuting to Belfast to study are middle class ‘as they have a a car’🥹
@ElleEmSee@BBCNewsNI@QUBelfast Or tried to rent student accommodation lately either. “Eww thick culchies to stupid to get a bus are littering MY Belfast” sentiment does my head in, the Belfast economy is dependant on them but the attitude is rancid
@BBCNewsNI@QUBelfast And people talking about “in my day I walked” - go on then, tell us your rent at the time that meant you could afford to live within walking distance. Tell us the full story
@DonaldClarke63 I would understand you “for christs sake” and “you’re living in fairy land” tone if I’d come into your mentions to argue with you, but given you’ve come to me with that while I’ve been civil, I wouldn’t tolerate it from a stranger in a pub & I won’t do here either. Pls move on
My family grew up hearing “I wouldn’t have a Catholic about the place” hounded from jobs when the ambiguity of Grant was discovered, both grandmothers children counted as “a fenian litter” it wasn’t freedom the Protestant rulers wanted it was domination. This is rancid
“If I was a Protestant in Belfast in 1920 I definitely would have said I don’t want to be in with those guys”
Irish journalist Fintan O’Toole tells an American audience that partition was justified as ‘the South’ was too pious while Northern Ireland was enlightened.

@DonaldClarke63 Again you are stating I’ve done something I haven’t - I haven’t argued anything about what *he believes* - I’ve pointed out that him saying I understand the reason for hesitancy due to divorce rights etc and I would have done the for same reasons- is inadequate
@DonaldClarke63 No implication? He says “I would have thought the same” it’s literally the only reason he lists for why he says he would have felt the same - he skips all the anti Irish anti Catholic bigotry that was mixed up in amongst the opposition, you’re not making the same point he is.
@DonaldClarke63 Soft soaping why the resistance from northern Unionists wanted nothing to do with an independent Ireland and framing it around divorce and progressive rights is absolute nonsense - when we know what sort of system they set up consciously and deliberately
@DonaldClarke63 If I said he approval of the bigotry I’ve set out you’d have a point, I didn’t say that though. He is however deliberately misrepresenting what the resistance was and the reason for it when given free reign to express it it was openly done. It wasn’t fear of ‘Rome rule’
A lot of people saying that things need to be learned about what the public wants weren’t saying that here in 2019, and a lot of the people that were are adamant that the voters are in the wrong this specific time and nothing can be done except to call them scum. Silo talk
