"The OLC opinion [on disparate-impact liability] moves government policy closer to the colorblind standard embedded in the Constitution. That’s good for the law and social harmony." @WSJEditorials
The LCMS under President Harrison has maintained one of the highest convert to cradle ratios in American Christianity, with 1 in 3 LCMS members being converts.
This number is substantially higher than that of both Baptists and Roman Catholics.
🔥Hot off the presses: @TheJusticeDept issued an opinion today explaining that disparate-impact liability under federal employment law is *unconstitutional*. This is an earthquake in federal civil rights law. If right, this is the foundation to overturn that pernicious regime.
There is a plague of young ladder-climbers who see the credentialing of Fed Soc as their path to a clerkship and hopefully greater things. They have next to zero actual knowledge about the topics of textualism and originalism, have barely if ever practiced law, and function as minor sophists by blathering shiboliths they heard someone else say bc they think it will get them their conservative sinecure. Lord, deliver us.
Today is D-Day @TheJusticeDept . We are DENATURALIZING twelve criminals for immigration FRAUD as part of @DAGToddBlanche surge. Criminals who obtain US citizenship through fraud will have it revoked. ⬇️
The @DOJCivil is offering attorney signing bonuses up to $25K and looking to hire attorneys outside Washington, D.C., with a preference for attorneys who can work out of @DOJCivil satellite offices in NYC, San Francisco, Dallas, and Raleigh. Check the USAJobs links below for important details. ⬇️
Re-upping this one:
“In practical terms, this means we must stigmatize certain evil ideas and behaviors, and we must ostracize people who insist upon them. More practically, this means that people who persist in such disorder should lose their social standing. In certain cases, they should lose their jobs. There must be consequences.”
Gay surrogacy and gay adoption are predicated on the idea that gay men (or women) have a “right” to become parents. This idea is not only morally insane but also logically incoherent. It’s exactly like jumping off a building and claiming that you have the right to fly. Nobody has the right to defy the laws of nature. Where would such a right even originate? Two men cannot be parents. It’s impossible. Doesn’t matter how they feel or what they want. It cannot be. The only “right” at issue here is the right of the child. And the child has a right to be raised by a mother and a father, not two men masquerading as mother and father.
Thank God for the heroism of the Omaha Police Officers who saved this three-year-old’s life. Because of their decisive action, an innocent child will live, and for that we are grateful.
The information emerging about the child’s attacker is disturbing. Her prior acts of violence—including trying to set her father on fire and breaking into a pastor’s home with a knife and trashing it while he barricaded himself in a bedroom, for which she was found not responsible due to insanity—raise grave questions as to why she was free and on the street. I have ordered my team to thoroughly review this case and identify weaknesses it reveals in our criminal justice and mental health commitment and detention systems. This perpetrator was clearly dangerous and known to be so; she should not have been free to harm others.
If the Legislature’s decades of shrinking our regional center infrastructure and failing to strengthen our civil commitment laws made this attack possible, then we need to fix it. Now.
@Pontifex Interesting that Lutherans such as myself are specifically anathematized under the Council of Trent for believing we are saved by faith in Christ alone but Algerian Muslims who forbid Christians from sharing that Gospel are in “communion” with Rome.
“It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor.” —George Washington
Have faith in God and Country.
“In an administration stocked with bold conservative leaders, OLC stands out for its thoughtful and thorough legal analysis as a tool to advance the Trump agenda.”
