🚩 Welcome to The Grassroots Guy.
Grassroots football runs on volunteers, goodwill, and the occasional miracle at 8:30 on a Saturday morning.
This page is here to help the people behind the scenes with practical advice on sponsorship, fundraising, club finance, volunteers, social media, governance, and all the other jobs nobody tells you about when you first put your hand up to help.
No lectures. No corporate buzzwords. Just useful ideas, honest advice, and a bit of humour along the way.
If it helps even one club keep going, it’ll be worth it.
⚽ Follow along, share your experiences, and let’s help grassroots football thrive together.

Every successful grassroots football club has one thing in common… volunteers who quietly get on with the jobs nobody else sees. 👏
They don’t ask for applause, but they deserve it. ⚽💙

If you want to raise more money for your club on match days, gimmicks will only get you so far.
Instead, focus on getting every supporter, home and away, to spend just a little bit more.
This is not to say that fans are cash cows waiting to be milked, but every £ that is spent by fans enjoying themselves and the game is more fuel in your club’s engine.
Make it enjoyable, welcoming and pleasant and you’ll be amazed what happens.
Sponsorship at the grassroots level is probably one of the hardest parts, and the further down the pyramid you go…
The harder it gets…
But… you can get those sponsors you need, you just need to approach it in the right way…
The most common answer anyone trying to get sponsors for their football club is no, in many forms from not replying, to a 'we will keep the details on file, to a straight up no.
But the question is why do they say no?
And what can football clubs do to try and turn some of those nos into a yes?

@1_hunz The trials and tribulations of grassroots are without end. Pre season is only the beginning.
But it’s a fair comment and harder when the World Cup games are at hours that suit a 9 to 5 job for once.
@JacobBrownDOC Many youth teams seem to be almost franchises of a club.. like you say.
Club support is not always great, and a lot of coaches are left to get on with it and sometimes having to work most of it out for themselves.
