He chuckled softly, approaching and cupping her face. “I’m glad you’re trying, and it’s a good attempt.” He mumbled closely, leaving a chaste peck on her lips.
“Aeons above, you never falter trying to help me out of this, do you?” He questioned rhetorically.
He dressed up in a very usual silk robe, dramatically draping a feather boa over his shoulders. “My little attempt at trying to grow around my grief, you see.”
“You know grief never changes, right?” He added, following her at a distance.
“You just have to grow around it, and you will, regardless of what you think of it right now.”
She gently held his hand, softly kissing his knuckles. Soon he took off the blanket to change.
“Fine, then. Yet even though I’m with you, I still continue to shoulder this grief. It doesn’t really go away no matter how much I try.”
“Dearest, I will live forever if I so wish it. I will only die if you die.” He said, words just barely above a whisper, before pressing a kiss to their nose.
“You won’t be alone so long as I’m alive, whether you like it or not. Besides, you passed out in an uncomfortable spot.”
“You shouldn’t have done that.” They quickly responded. “I was in the middle of wondering what I should do.” He lied.
“I mean, it’s something everyone will go through at some point. Being alone, having nothing else to rely on…”
“Still in your office.” He uttered delicately, reaching to hold their hand. “Just on a comfier area to sleep on with me by your side.”
He smiled softly, shifting from the stool to the edge of the chaise to get closer and lean in, wrapping his other arm around them.—
He slept soundly, occasionally shifting in the blanket, sometimes softly yawning at random intervals.
