Looking it at the Taliban & Pak Twitter warriors glorifying war that will invariably kill & displace Pashtuns on both sides of the Durand, one is again reminded of General Sherman’s words: There is many a boy here today who looks on war as all glory, but, boys, it is all hell
I love how we can't even get a stable Wi-Fi signal in Balochistan, but we still have enough data to curse each other's ancestors. 😂
This infighting is a gift to the center. If we’re busy arguing over who arrived first, we’ll never be organized enough to ask other questions.
Alcaraz winning his first #AusOpen title AND becoming the youngest to complete the Career Slam, in front of his idol, Nadal - this is why we pay our internet bills 🥹
Imaan and Hadi have been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for standing up for the rights of the Baloch and other deliberately silenced and oppressed communities. That is their only “crime.”
We strongly condemn this sham verdict, which once again shows why public confidence in the judiciary has eroded so deeply. Like so many people for whom Imaan raised her voice, she too has been denied a fair trial. This is how oppression reproduces itself.
The state and those in power must understand this: fear is not governance. The right to a fair trial, justice, and freedom of expression are fundamental rights. We will not surrender them, and we will not allow ourselves to be ruled by fear.
Imaan and Hadi defended victims of blasphemy accusations and families of the disappeared, the most vulnerable and silenced people in the country.
By punishing Imaan and Hadi, we have made ourselves far poorer - morally and legally.
I don’t want to sound defeatist, but regarding the situation right now, I don't have much hope and I think there isn't much we can do. And It’s not a lack of activism on our part. Most forms of resistance just get absorbed, molded & used by the very forces we’re trying to fight.
If Asma Jahangir were here today, she’d see her own reflection in @ImaanZHazir’s courage. Asma Sahiba would be proud to see a fearless voice standing up for the marginalized. Her spirit hasn't left us, it’s alive & fighting in Imaan.
More power to you brave lady.
Maybe life was that smile we held back?
The apology we rehearsed in our head but never offered out loud.
The feelings we carried for people without ever naming it; the care that existed without ownership or demand.
Mama Qadeer Baloch has passed away today, but his struggle will live on. He walked thousands of miles with nothing but pain, hope, and courage, demanding justice for the disappeared of Balochistan. His voice shook silence. Rest in power.✌️
