Ppl in this sector know food pantries are hit and miss and sometimes still charge you. That's why I find sharing this a bit better. Of course ideally we wouldn't need it at all. But there's an immediate need vs a long term battle to stop it from happening. People need food now.
For anyone who is doing it tough right now. At this link you can find your local services offering food. It even gives you a list of places serving freshly cooked meals near you free of charge and what times they serve them. Just put in your postcode.

Iβm really struggling with the ableism regarding NDIS. I was a clinical nurse consultant for 30 years, Iβve paid my taxes. I have multiple sclerosis, it took me a long time to swallow my pride and apply for help.
The hate on here makes me feel worthless.
I finally did something I've been contemplating for well over a year and made a WordPress where I can post my longform opinions.
If you miss my twitter rants, this is for you! First piece on the new NDIS cuts went out today and I have another planned β€οΈ

For somebody who wouldn't eat in the same room as me in October she really has just come miles. She's such a sweet and affectionate girl now!! She still gets scared sometimes but she's doing really well π so glad I took a chance on her, she deserves a happy and loving home! π«Άπ»π«Άπ»
Max milestones we've had in the last few months;
-Max LOVES pats now, she's addicted to them, she screams at me for pats every single day.
-Max likes to lay on the couch, especially 0.3 seconds after I get up off the couch, steals my seat.
-Max comes in the bed!! To cuddle!!
-comitted her first crime (turned around to grab my drink and she WOKE UP from her nap to eat my dinner)
-went to the vet!! (extreme difficulty but we got there in the end)
-Let somebody other than me pet her!!!!!
-rolls on her back and shows me her tummy when she's happy
her pancreas don't work, her kidneys on struggle street, now her thyroid preducing bullshit,,,, girl ur worse than me fr. none of it is life threatening though so we persevere. spent another good 500$ on her this week tho
Anyways Cookie didn't end up getting X-rays because she started walking a bit better so she got more pain meds and a very expensive injection cost me another 300$ but she's starting to seem more like herself ππ»
Anyways haven't been on here. Right after the crazy months at the end of the year of Cookies emergency and then my NDIS review my stepdad got diagnosed w a brain tumor right before Christmas and just had surgery 2 weeks ago π¬ truly a crazy run of events over here
Also Cookie got into a scuffle w a dog yesterday (neither her nor dog injured) but since I pushed her away she went sicko mode on my hand and I had to go to urgent care bc severe cat bites in hand not cool time. Hand suffering. There's a full on dental imprint in my hand ππ
Most ppl I know w Autism on the NDIS have other conditions and are forced to have Autism as a primary dx. That greatly skews the statistics we see all the time. If you removed the ppl with multiple conditions things would get really interesting. But they won't do that.
I actually know so many people who can't access the NDIS that really need it. If they actually took a proper look they'd see there's so much unmet demand for help. I just found out yesterday that my local council has already exhausted their entire HAC-PYP budget for 2026 already.
That meant that ASD lvl 2 automatically became my primary condition and my others secondary. The scheme is way too hard to access for physical disability it's ridiculous. MS is literally a list B condition that's supposed to provide straightforward approval and yet it was not.
