@BasedMikeLee Used to be? Nah, never was.
But it's stupid anyway because communism and Marxism have never existed in the real world and socialism has been a resounding success.
Maybe they should teach how capitalism has damaged the entire planet and imperils all of humanity.
Mike is an idiot.
I would also add, the idea that secularism, human rights, rationalism, etc. are somehow inherently alien to cultures outside the west is deeply infantilising and insulting to these people.
Marx should get more credit for his understanding of morality. He basically goes 'it's not that capitalists are bad people so they do fucked up shit, it's that they face pressures to do fucked up shit and that eventually turns them into bad people.' That's really important IMO.
Mental illnesses are absolutely real but psychology as a field overall is still underdeveloped at best and outright pseudoscientific at worst. Diagnosing someone with depression or anxiety is the mental health equivalent of a medieval physician diagnosing someone with 'the flux.'
This being the case, cognitivism in general, the view that the brain is a pre-social computer which merely takes in sensorimotor input and spits out sensorimotor output, must be considered one of our most vile objects of critique.
One of our primary enemies is philosophical bioessentialism, even in a soft sense. Any view of the body which assumes any of its functions are pre-discursive/pre-enactive is a fetish. Relations between people & environment are misread as properties of an inert abstract “body”
I just saw a comment that said, “I’m a student. Can anyone recommend an alternative to ChatGPT?”
HELLO??? YOUR BRAIN. That’s literally the whole point of being a student.
Yes, because when a whole country like Guatemala democratically decides to give land to the landless poor people, the US comes and destroys their country and installs a dictator and death squads that kill 250,000 people in the next decades to prevent any resistance. You're right.
As another summer brings record heat, it should be reminded that climate change should be understood as a crisis rooted in the social relations of capital, where production is governed by accumulation rather than the conscious regulation of humanity’s relation to nature.
All the tech companies are under some kind of AI psychosis. They keep talking about this junkware that didn't even exist four years ago, and that we lived perfectly well without, like it's God and humanity can't survive without it.
I will ALWAYS remind ppl that US birthright citizenship was created for Black Americans to secure their citizenship after slavery. It's a perfect example of how laws uplifting Black America have a universal benefit in the long run.
If recording with glasses were the same as recording with a phone, the glasses wouldn’t exist. The concealment is the point. Bypassing consent is the point.
I'm begging "Marxists" to actually read Marx's Critique of the Gotha Programme, Civil War in France, Capital, Grundrisse, 1844 Manuscripts, and so on without projecting Stalin's and Losurdo's reading into his works. Marx is so much more profound than those two combined.
Capitalism’s big dirty secret is most big businesses would no longer be profitable if you removed their tax breaks, corporate subsidies and government contracts. The rest would dissolve once monopolistic pricing and intellectual property rights were revoked.
