@Mandalore652020 Absolutely name and shame the hypocrisy of people who choose to be in the public eye.
But we gotta stop letting the same things slide when people we like say it. It just indicates the foundations aren’t solid.
@Mandalore652020 I think that we need to look critically at what we (all media consumers) are doing if we want anything to change.
We should be more consciously wary of any person who begins moral positions with tokenization. We should call it out in our friends and our media figures.
@alexfossinator Wait, me??
Are you accusing me of only knowing what the youths are doing because I read about it on Wikipedia or because neurodivergent youths tell me about it at work because I am a Safe Person To Talk About Special Interests With??
Me??
Set your boundaries early and often.
You can be an asshole about it if you want, but it’s not a requirement. Your boundaries can be firmly enforced without you being an asshole too. Again, you’re welcome to be if you want. That’s your choice.
I will judge you for your choices!
@Hieronymuslein@ADHD_Alien To clarify: my skill for speaking clearly & engagingly has served my by letting me immerse & learn experientially in the workplace - NOT that it has allowed me to be lazy & learn nothing.
I now teach & monitor social emotional growth with the empathy of having struggled myself.
@Hieronymuslein@ADHD_Alien Oh absolutely!
I know how to speak engagingly even when I don’t know what I’m talking about. Most of my good grades in academic classes was just that.
(That talent has served me well in the workplace though so idk about what that says about school preparing you for Real Life.)
@amandaknox I’m thankful you survived. Thankful you got home. Thankful the real killer was caught. Thankful you were acquitted. Thankful that you tell your story.
I also encourage people to focus on the people who are grateful for them, not necessarily the people they’re with for holidays!
@chr0niciconic @truthisjustice2 @disabledphd But the main reason I remember that is because I thought it was ironic that I couldn’t read the posts to evaluate ableism myself because the image had been so compressed that it felt like trying to squint and read with my shitty eyeballs.
@chr0niciconic @truthisjustice2 @disabledphd This is helpful context.
I follow Jorts, saw that tweet hrs after posting, but the contents (including account information) were indeed obscured in the post I saw.
I’d believe a clear version was posted & if that’s the case: that’s crappy and I’ll take it up with Jorts myself.
@jpbrammer See this is the niche content that makes me feel seen.
Wikipedia Queers/Queens.
Today I dedicated an hour and a half of my life minutes to reading about reoccurring sketches and characters on late night shows that aired before I was born.
An author and poet of African American and Montaukett descent, Olivia Ward Bush-Banks wrote passionately about racism, social justice, and her mixed heritage.
This #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, we honor her work and celebrate the diversity of our Native communities.
