Right as he was going to answer, the food is placed, causing him to raise a finger.. before dropping it back down, with a little chuckle. There’s a shrug as it’s placed, and he feels his stomach grumble; so he clears his throat a little bit, and stares at her.

Stephanie could've easily told him to fuck right off the moment she saw him or she could've just stood him up. Even now, as he was talking to her, she didn't quite understand why she had given him this chance.

Her trying in general was appreciated. Realistically, she owed him nothing, not even this moment and chance to make things right, on some level. But she gave it. And.. that was Steph. One of the things he loved about her.
