he sniffled softly as he gazed at him before looking forward. he wiped at his tears with a shaky sigh.
“…it’s okay. i’ve just been stressed a lot lately. between work, the band, my mental health as a whole…”
he lightly said with a soft sigh.
maddox took a deep breath, slowly making his way over before he had taken a seat beside him.
“ i’m sorry … i never realised just how bad it was for you. i can’t imagine i had made it any easier for you, +
he had slowly calmed down after a few minutes, hiccuping softly to try and steady his breathing.
he had sat down on the sidewalk, sniffling before looking at him. he then shook his head a little.
⠀
he didn’t say anything, he just gave gray that moment he must have needed, biting his lip to hold back tears of his own.
only after a few minutes passed he glanced over towards him. “ are you okay, gray .ᐣ ”
⠀
he stepped outside with maddox, finally letting a heavy sob leave him. he covered his mouth, leaning against the wall and shutting his eyes tightly as he sobbed softly. everything that kept building up finally escaping him.
⠀
he hated to see him like this, the hurt in his eyes, the obvious overwhelming feeling he must’ve felt pouring out of him slowly.
“ come on. ” he gestured, a worriedsome frown before he stepped away from the bar counter.
⠀
he blinked and looked at how maddox held onto his arm. he finally met his gaze, letting tears roll down his cheeks. he then finally nodded a little bit.
“okay…”
he softly replied. he sniffled lightly with a shaky sigh, wiping at his tears.
⠀
he hesitated for a moment, before he slowly moved his hand onto his lower arm and gave it a small squeeze.
“ i can tell, maybe you need to take a breather … i’m sure they won’t miss you for a couple minutes, right .ᐣ ” +
⠀
he lowered his hands from his face, meeting maddox’s gaze. he softly sighed, resting his hands on the countertop, lowering his head. he was quiet for a moment before speaking.
“…i’m getting closer and closer to a fucking meltdown…i…can’t do it anymore…i’m gonna lose it…” +
⠀
maddox could tell. maybe after all this time he could still read gray, could still see under that hard exterior he put on.
he bit his lip, before he spoke up again. “ i hope i am not overstepping here but you look +
⠀
gray’s heterochromic eyes gazed back at maddox before sighing and nodding. “since i’ve started here.” he said, running a hand through his hair. he rubbed his face with his ringed hands. it was clear he was exhausted. he hadn’t gotten much sleep lately. he was +
⠀
it seemed like there was always something going on, and he admits he was concerned when the fight started. he didn’t want gray to get hurt so he was ready to lock in and run over if he needed to.
luckily he had it +

+ working himself towards burnout. the only person who even remotely knew how much this was taking a toll on him was his twin brother. but that was it. not even his bandmates knew. he always put on a fake smile, acted like he was perfectly fine. but truly, he was just +
gray’s gaze stayed on maddox before drifting towards the empty glass. he nodded a bit, pushing himself upwards again. “alright.” he said, grabbing the glass, getting maddox another whiskey before setting it down in front of him. +
⠀
fuck. midnight. he had a feeling he was too early, but he wasn’t going to give up hope just yet— the night was still young and he came all this way.
“ midnight .ᐣ hm, alright. i guess i can stick around for a bit. ›
⠀
+ “you’re yelling in my ear- get the fuck outside!” gray snapped, shoving the guy out the door, watching as the other guy hurried outside to finish the fight. gray shut the door and shook his head. “jesus.” he grumbled.
for someone so short he definitely had a lot of +
“i don’t get off til midnight” he replied, glancing around a bit to make sure everything was fine before gazing back at maddox. his guard was definitely still up, and it was clear. +
⠀
it probably wasn’t the best place to talk about something so serious as this, with gray working, seeing and watching customers flirt with him and it made him feel a bad churning in his stomach.
he lets out a sigh, not ›

// okay ladies, gents, and everyone in between! i’ve been tryna bite my tongue about this issue but tbh? i can’t anymore. SO, sit down, listen, and to those of you who are absolute angels, i love you and you don’t have to worry about this.
BUT. it has come to my attention +
// + i was actually liked here and i get to reconnect with people i used to write with and those people are the only reason i’m staying. patience is truly, HONESTLY, one of the best things you can have when picking up writing and if you can’t have that then oh man bro, +
