Three of us spent a year building exactly that on
Solana, on commodity hardware, with zkSNARKs.
33k LOC Rust. 407 tests. Open source.
Why we made validators run on laptops:
Some privacy protocols (Aztec, Aleo) need GPUs and specialized hardware to run nodes.
This shrinks validator sets and concentrates power.
We made it different. Verify-only nodes. Groth16 proof verifies in 10ms on one CPU core, 192 bytes per proof.
Your laptop runs a validator. 1 SOL minimum stake. Privacy without decentralization isn't privacy.
It's a permissioned database with extra steps.
Funny thing.
Solana was originally called "Loom."
We named our project Paraloom.
Para- (privacy) + loom (Solana's roots).
Built it for a year before noticing. Some circles close themselves.
This is the part of the whole "trad-life" thing I don't get. If you want a stay-at-home wife/mother, you HAVE to be providing for it. That means working your ass off. And if you're willing to do that, because that's what you want, more power to you. But the expectation that your wife will never want anything is absolutely insane. Get a sexbot if that's what you're looking for. GAHHHH!!!!
Should I be worried that I have been getting pretty vivid su*cidal thoughts lately... and I've kind of always had them but its become real serious since this lockdown started and tbh the idea of putting an end to it all doesn't bother me much anymore.
