Politicians who fanned these flames should hang their heads in shame.
Time and again we've seen this story play out. Single incidents used to fuel a far right narrative - and communities across the nation paying the price.
Andy Burnham voted for the Iraq War, an illegal war that killed over a million people.
As Health Secretary, he helped drive NHS privatisation.
He joined Labour Friends of Israel, opposed BDS as “spiteful”, praised Israel as a “democracy”, and called the Balfour Declaration “British values in action”. He is a Zionist.
Stop pretending he’s a radical alternative, he’s more of the same.
When you see the relentless attacks from other parties on the Greens across the media remember this:
They hate our plan to end Rip Off Britain.
They don't want a wealth tax.
They don't want public ownership & lower bills.
They're trying everything in their power to stop us.
The body of the Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil was found by rescuers after several hours of digging in the rubble after an Israeli strike. She is the fourth journalist to have been killed by Israeli forces in seven weeks. This is why the word ‘journacide’ is now being used.
The right to protest isn’t a gift from government. It’s a democratic principle, hard-won and easily lost.
Last night the government tried to smuggle through a “cumulative disruption” power that would let police ban protests simply because other people had protested in the same area before. Think about what that means: your right to march could be extinguished by someone else’s march on an entirely different issue.
They knew this wouldn’t survive proper scrutiny - so they denied MPs the time to give it any.
I supported the cross-party motion to oppose the cumulative disruption amendment. The government used its majority to force it through regardless.
Protest is supposed to be disruptive. That’s the point. From the suffragettes to the anti-apartheid movement, it was cumulative, persistent, inconvenient protest that changed this country for the better.
One of the most authoritarian political parties in modern British history is leading in the polls. As I said in the chamber when the government proscribed Palestine Action - a progressive Labour government should be building firewalls for our democracy, not tearing them down and pitch-rolling for Reform.
This Bill isn’t law yet. It now returns to the Lords, and this fight is far from over.
Since 2 March, 23 Israeli security personnel and two Israeli civilians have died in Hezbollah attacks. Israel’s attacks on Lebanon during that time have, it’s thought, killed 1,400 Hezbollah fighters, and 350 confirmed civilians, including 110 children. The international legal principle of proportionality prohibits attacks ‘expected to cause incidental loss of civilian life, injury to civilians, or damage to civilian objects which would be excessive in relation to the concrete and direct military advantage’. It applies to every country, whether or not it has ratified the treaty — including the US, which has been accused of breaching the proportionality principle in its attacks on Iran.
I have just spoken with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
I expressed France’s full solidarity in the face of the indiscriminate strikes carried out by Israel in Lebanon today, which resulted in a very high number of civilian casualties. We condemn these strikes in the strongest possible terms.
They pose a direct threat to the sustainability of the ceasefire that has just been reached. Lebanon must be fully covered by it.
I reiterated the need to preserve Lebanon’s territorial integrity and France’s determination to support the efforts of the Lebanese authorities to uphold the country’s sovereignty and implement the Hezbollah disarmament plan.
It was Netanyahu who started this war that has killed so many & put at risk the living standards of people across the world & it’s Netanyahu who is now undermining the ceasefire & chance of peace. Keir Starmer should lead & introduce sanctions against Israel immediately.
With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes.
Both parties have displayed remarkable wisdom and understanding and have remained constructively engaged in furthering the cause of peace and stability. We earnestly hope, that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in coming days!

Absolute bombshell. Lavrov reveals Gulf nations completely refused to let the US use their airspace or bases to attack Iran. He exposes how Washington provoked the war, secretly evacuated their own troops, and left their Arab allies completely defenseless as sitting ducks.
🚨 BREAKING: 🇶🇦
Qatari Minister Lolwah Al-Khater to Trump and Netanyahu:
“Stop speaking on our behalf. Stop using us as an excuse for your agendas. We don’t want you to ‘liberate’ us—we just want to be left alone. Stop fueling wars. It’s not our fault you failed in school and were educated by Hollywood—the world is not a movie.”
These aircraft should not be allowed to land on British Soil.
Over 1000 civilians dead already after illegal war started by the US and Israel - and all this with no vote in the UK parliament about our role.
Attacking Iran was the plan from the beginning.
Iran did not close the Strait of Hormuz; the United States did.
They knew they would destabilize West Asia, so they secured Venezuelan oil beforehand.
The peace talks were merely a distraction.
BREAKING: WESTERN MEDIA JUST TURNED ON ISRAEL
Reporter tells the Israeli Spokesperson:
"The Iranian regime have done terrible things, but your Prime Minister is a wanted war criminal.
You don't have the moral high ground here at all."
🇮🇱🇵🇸Israeli Historian Avi Shlaim:
"Under Netanyahu's leadership, Israel has also committed the crime of all crimes, Genocide... in the WWII, the Jews were the defenseless victims of Nazi Germany, today it's the Palestinians who are the defenseless victims of the Jewish state."
Right outcome.
I voted against the ban on PA because it was authoritarian, and weakened our democratic rights.
A Labour govt should be building firewalls against authoritarianism - not building bridges for it.
As billionaires whip up hate, Labour must stop scapegoating migrants and worsening their exploitation at the hands of bullying employers.
Migrant workers, many of whom are UNISON members, are our country’s backbone.
