🛡️ Good hygiene is increasingly important in stored grain as phosphine resistance continues to grow.
Where resistant pests are contributing to ongoing infestations, sulfuryl fluoride can be used as a break treatment - but it is not a replacement for phosphine.
QLD DPIs Dr Manoj Nayak is leading GRDC’s national stored grain pest resistance monitoring and management program, helping track resistance and preserve phosphine as the industry’s primary fumigant.

Update on our @theGRDC disease trial site in the north (darling Downs) . No disease in the dry year up here. Teams focussing on southern sites (Vic, NSW) that are now loaded with all sorts of foliar disease
Our extension agronomists sure keep busy! 🚗🤠

🌱 As pigeon pea is assessed as a potential summer pulse for QLD and northern NSW, helicoverpa is one of the agronomic challenges being worked through.
Queensland DPI and Woods Seeds are researching newer varieties better suited to Australian farming systems.
Pigeon pea flowers are highly attractive to helicoverpa, with larvae feeding on flowers and developing pods. Newer varieties are expected to be less susceptible, although growers would still likely need one or two insecticide applications to maintain control.

🚨 Project announcement: Digital Twin Adoption for Water & Soil Management
Riverine Plains, supported by @theGRDC, is exploring how Digital Twin technology can support better water & soil management in grain systems.
Working with Riverina farmers & @Agronomeye the project will bring together paddock, soil & weather data to support better on-farm decisions. From understanding & managing waterlogging to improving soil water use, productivity & resilience. We’re excited to work with farmers to test what Digital Twin tools can really offer in the paddock and share what we learn along the way.

🌾 The GRDC Northern Panel is heading to Central Queensland 8–10 Sep to hear directly from growers and industry on local opportunities, challenges and future RD&E priorities.
The tour will visit Emerald, Gindie, Capella, Clermont and Kilcummin.

This is what @thegrdc National Grower Network is all about.
Growers joined us at #Jandowae today to discuss canola profitability, alternative winter crops and on-farm experimentation.
An idea raised at an NGN Forum a year ago now in the ground and generating valuable insights.
Attention: Forbes growers
