@CraigDavis_Agro@CaptainCanola And labels are written when products are new and working well. So they can often handle a bit of antagonism without a major impact.
As resistance emerges, this antagonism is magnified.
Another example to reinforce that it's not a good idea to mix fast acting contact herbicides (glufosinate) with systematic herbicides that need time to translocate through the plant (glyphosate)
@CraigDavis_Agro@CaptainCanola Biological antagonism in the plant (reduced efficacy from mixes) can vary with different weed species, rate of each product and resistance status. So it becomes almost impossible to label.
AMS showing its benefits to assist glyphosate in controlling self sown cereals and other grasses. Here it’s been tank mixed with triazines, with and without AMS and control
is chalk and cheese. AMS assisting with Antagonism with group 5 pre ems @CropDoctor54@robbert115
@farmersgrowit@4FarmersBill They actually do Mark. In the paraquat review it is clear that 'if' paraquat survives, then all use patterns must have a fully enclosed handling system - not just broadacre, but all for all users. 20L drums are gone (unless can be fitted with a closed handling system).
@summitagconsult@em_ayliffe And if urea doesn't work for your soil colour then try kitty litter crystals pre-mixed with food dye from the supermarket. You can pick any colour you want.
Autonomy Mark II this time with a lot more tech on board and a remote monitoring system as well. Ornata Ag system controlling the tractor and seeder. DickeyJohn ISO monitoring blockage, bin levels, fan speed and metering. The whole iso display is shared with Ornata Ag.
@Warwick_Long No win for me. Filled up yesterday at Narrabri at $3.15. Then proceeded to drive 700km to home and every other servo was cheaper. Cheapest I saw was $2.45 !!
Double & triple knock jobs working a treat on known resistant ryegrass populations.
1st pass Crucial alone (no spike) then 2nd pass group 14/G + paraquat. 3rd pass if required another paraquat.
Pre ems also synergistic with paraquat eg Overwatch, Boxer, Reflex
@WeedSmartAU
@dyerjonathan@EchelonMirror@Oscarthefarmer@agrarianliberty@grok Depends on the situation Jonathan.
Some swarmbot owners are amazed how much country can be covered working independently on a well set up farm.
I have heard of some growers who have cancelled future orders, as the first one is covering way more ha's than they expected.
@mattrohde8@ronInBendigo Are you sure cities are being prioritised?
Saw a post from a CEO of an independent fuel supplier where he said his industrial customer orders (including farms, mines etc) were up 600% last week, and he said he obviously had no hope of delivering that much.
@Tedthekelpie@KondininGroup Paraquat use has been withdrawn in the UK (and EU) for a long time. This Syngenta plant has only been manufacturing for export markets for over 15 years
@CropDoctor54@PBoutsalis@DMAg_consultant@agrobaz@grassrootsag@Mike_AHRI Agree CD
But before just assuming every poor result is resistance, make sure there is a comparison with just a solid rate of glyphosate alone + AMS, that is double knocked with paraquat.
Wrong choice of surfactants or tank mix partners can often contribute to reduced results.
@Oscarthefarmer@grok@SoybeansRus@SecRollins Hey Oscar
Many of these MNCs are trading in multiple segments so difficult to know where the profit comes from.
However the Ag Chem R&D segment is bleeding big time (due to generics primarily).
Short term win for growers, but will mean not much new in the pipeline for the future
SA growers!
NEXT WEEK: GRDC herbicide behaviour workshops are coming to #Loxton 24-25 Feb #Kadina 26-27 Feb. Join @congreve_mark to learn the science underpinning how herbicides work & the application to field practice. Limited places.
