i made this out of curiosity, following the trend of replacing saas with free software, wanted to see how hard would be to actually rebuild an app.

setup includes:

ended up finding the malicious commits across a lot of my repos

now i'm wiping the mac properly, rotating basically every credential i've used on it and auditing all my repos

bro i actually got hacked

attackers had injected malware into a bunch of my github repos and i unknowingly cloned some of them back to my mac

then i opened one in vscode and that was basically it

that's when shit started getting weird

my repos were getting modified, .gitignore files were getting random stuff injected into them

then my Documents disappeared

then Downloads

i thought my mac was just bugging out
