Wow, I’m blown away by the response to my post about my 20-year-old son being denied hotel check-ins from @HiltonHotels and @Marriott while driving home from college, due to age restrictions! 🤯 Thank you to everyone who empathized with a worried parent and shared practical advice. Here are some thoughts:
1. Tired driving is a major cause of auto fatalities. Saying, “He’s young—he can drive 20 hours straight” is not just reckless, it endangers EVERYONE on the road.
2. Digital keys are a clever workaround, but they don’t always work- and no one should have to "hack" their way around discrimination. We should be advocating for common sense and real change instead.
3. It’s wild to me that some believe it’s acceptable to deny a 20-year-old a safe place to sleep but also think they should be able to buy a gun. Where’s the logic?
4. The rental car age limit comparison (25 and up), is valid, but that doesn’t excuse denying basic needs. Food, water, sleep, and shelter are essential—shouldn’t access to those be prioritized over a convertible mustang?
Anything else? 🤔
Removing anesthesiologists from care raises risks for patients without expanding health care access or reducing costs. Don’t jeopardize your constituents. Preserve physician-led anesthesia care.
