The Original Tiger Mask stepped into the Korakuen Hall ring on to a thunderous "Tiger" chant yesterday and his disciple was right there waiting to return the favour.

Satoru Sayama, battling Parkinson's disease and Meniere's disease, took the opportunity to express gratitude to his late mentor Antonio Inoki, the late Hisashi Shinma, creator Ikki Kajiwara, New Japan and the fans, pledging to deliver matches worthy of his prime. A fall four days earlier had ruled out the somersault kick he'd teased at the press conference, but he was quick to reassure backstage that it was nothing serious.

The heartwarming centrepiece came when the Fourth Tiger Mask - who had retired at Korakuen on 7th July - rushed to the ring to present his mentor with a bouquet in return for the one Sayama gifted him at the retirement ceremony. The Fourth hadn't forgotten the moment they locked up that night: "His power was amazing and his arms were thick, so much so that I thought, 'Is the master's illness a lie?'" Sayama's response was perfectly timed: "Don't let the cat out of the bag."

The Fourth had no doubts about what comes next: "I believe the master will definitely make a comeback. I've been watching him up close." Sayama, beaming beneath the mask, delivered the only verdict that mattered: "He's the best disciple."

True Romance now feels like a slice of Cinema history. A film written by Quentin Tarantino but directed by the late Tony Scott, only to feature acting legends like Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, James Gandolfini & Brad Pitt. A film filled with moments - none bigger than this monologue from Dennis Hopper. I’ve been thinking about Tony a lot lately because it’s Ridley Scott Week. True Romance is probably the first non-Denzel Washington film I think of when I think of Tony Scott. This is such an important movie.

Tim Curry, Ridley Scott & Tom Cruise united for what I believe is one of the most overlooked film of the ‘80s: Legend. This movie was so far ahead of its time, it hurts. Curry is unbelievable as the Lord of Darkness & the fact we are losing Curry in the middle of Ridley Scott Week only makes me think about this film more. Studio interference & multiple versions of this film got in the way of its initial release. But now? Time to start giving this film the credit it deserves.
