Microsoft reportedly planned to maintain physical disc support, likely via an external drive, to preserve players' existing game libraries🚀
This was before recent company “reset”
Digital Foundry's John Linneman remains personally optimistic that XBOX might still support physical media in the future.
Would this make you switch to XBOX?😎
If I catch any of you contrarian motherfuckers crying in a few years because the standard edition is $150, the deluxe is $250, your PS6 won't boot without a subscription, every menu has ads, and you're paying monthly to rent games you used to own...
I don't want to hear a single fucking peep.
Not one.
Because every time someone tried to push back, you were there doing free PR for a multibillion-dollar corporation.
Just being wrong and loud for free.
You looked at a company taking away your rights one feature at a time and thought, "You know what this billion-dollar corporation really needs? Me in the replies defending them."
When they eventually bend you over too, don't come looking for sympathy.
Go ask fucking Sony.
Ok, we give up now, right?
Seriously, though, don't let a bit of corpo speak during an earnings call keep you from fighting for your rights and for what you love! Sony was never going to just cave after a few weeks of backlash. But they do see us! This is only the beginning!
SAVE THE DISC 📀 SAVE VIDEOGAMES
Don’t let Sony’s words demotivate you from fighting for physical games and protection of your right to own what you buy🚀
It’s not over. We have until January 2028
Vote with your voice, your wallet, your boycotts, and your constant pressure for what’s right for gaming as a whole.
This isn’t just about CDs or PlayStation, it’s about being able to play video games without being at the mercy of a digital storefront, their network status and licensing.
It’s about owning the games you buy and accessing them forever.
What we heard today was one of a series of moves Sony is doing directly and indirectly to demoralize and demotivate any push back.
WE WILL NOT GIVE UP💪🏼
Stand up for gaming and gamers
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
What a clown car operation of a company.
Speaks volumes that they will answer investors but not the audience that got them investments in the first place.
This isn't the Sony we know. RIP.
Habibi Sony, we got 4 console gens and classics to last us until PlayStation 8 and more. So we don’t need your discless dystopia😝🚀
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
Are you with me?💪🏼
It’s been almost a month since Sony officially announced that it would stop producing physical discs in several markets.
Most people only look at short-term success. I’ve seen this pattern before.
When I said Game Pass wasn’t a sustainable longterm strategy, people laughed because all they saw was “$10 a month for hundreds of games.” When I argued that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision would create more lonrterm problems than benefits, I was told I had no idea what I was talking about. Not long after Microsoft laid off more than 10,000 employees.
Yeah PlayStation will most likely have a record breaking year thanks to GTA VI. But that’s not the point. The real question is whether Sonys current strategy is built for the next decade or just the next financial report.
A huge portion of PlayStation’s revenue comes from players who mainly play Call of Duty, EA Sports FC, NBA 2K, GTA or Fortnite. These players are overwhelmingly digital and often stick to the same few games for years. They’re not necessarily loyal to PlayStation they’re loyal to the games they play. If another platform offers a better deal or a better ecosystem, many of them will switch without much hesitation.
The people who truly built the PlayStation brand are the hardcore fans: the collectors, enthusiasts, and long-time supporters. Ironically they’re also the group Sony seems most willing to alienate. Many of them already own multiple platforms, making it easier than ever to stop buying PlayStation hardware and software altogether.
A company can ignore its core audience for a while, but not forever. The consequences won’t appear overnight. They’ll accumulate slowly, year after year, until one day everyone wonders what went wrong. We’ve already seen PlayStation learn this lesson once during the PS3 era.
Success can create confidence. But when confidence turns into arrogance, history has a habit of repeating itself.
#PSBlackout #NoDiscNoBuy
I'd rather spend $3,000 on a high-end gaming PC that I can upgrade every few years, than give more money to Sony and @PlayStation.
You can all enjoy your diskless PS6, your 3 exclusives, your monthly subscriptions and your dynamic pricing. I won't be here for all of that bs.
God of War Laufey was announced like a month ago. There's no way they suddenly know the release date but didn't know it back when first announced. This is 100% a Sony decision telling Santa Monica to announce the date ASAP as a deflection tactic during the physical/digital drama.
Why would you have an end date, especially if it’s just one week later, on a boycott?
?????
This is like when people on Facebook are like “we should do a global strike for one day”
Imagine how pissed off people will be during big launches if PlayStation store goes down and the only way to get games will be digital cause Sony wants to phase out physical media.

Even while you never owned your disc in the first place, the fact you could hold it was to much for them. You shall own nothing and be happy, criminal scum! How the Industry Lied and Deceived; https://t.co/eOem2OJ0F1
