@PostsFromSkyrim@Stealth40k But the FF7 remake series was different. Besides technical and financial assistance from Sony, SE felt it was the game’s spiritual home. But MS’s money-hatting and Nintendo’s continued sales success, coupled with a much more capable Switch 2, finally made them reconsider.
@PostsFromSkyrim@Stealth40k Square has been releasing their games on PC for a very long time. My brother had the big box PC release of the original FF7. This conversation is centered around console exclusivity. Square brought a lot of their bigger games to Xbox 360 and onwards starting with FF13.
@rieper47@UsernameWords@Nintendeal This is true, but many developers would end up reducing asset quality of textures, pre-rendered cutscenes, and audio bit-rates to make it work. Is data repeated in cartridges like it is on blu-rays to keep load times manageable? If not, will the cuts be worth the quality loss?
