NEMA Holds World Ozone Day 2026 – National Sustainability Symposium

The National Sustainability Symposium on Ozone Protection, Climate Action and Environmental Sustainability 2026 was held at Kyambogo University in Kampala, Uganda under the theme “Safeguarding the Ozone Layer through Innovation, Partnerships & Sustainable Action.”

The event brought together stakeholders from the GreencHorizons Environmental Research Initiatives Uganda, Uganda National Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (UNARA), @giz_gmbh , @HimaCement , academic institutions (including @kyambogou, @Makerere, @UCUniversity and @iuiuac, youth and student groups such as Green African Youth Organisation (GAYO), Makerere University Conservation Biology Association (MUCOBA) and others, alongside civil society partners.

Sessions featured panel discussions, presentations, and addresses focused on practical ways to protect the ozone layer while advancing climate resilience and sustainable development. Participants emphasized environmentally friendly practices in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Sector, multi-stakeholder partnerships, community-level action, and student action to support long-term environmental goals in protecting the Ozone layer and climate action.
