Aviation connects us all, and all nations must address climate change together.
At Aviation Carbon 2022 today, I called for continued collaboration between world govts, industry & society to deliver a #netzero carbon future for aviation without losing the benefits of flying.

ICAO Council agrees CORSIA baseline change to protect Covid-stricken airline sector from higher carbon costs but effectively delays start of international aviation emissions scheme by three years https://t.co/7iD9MPoeLd @icao#CORSIA
@flygfredrik@icao@IATA Using 2020 emissions in the baseline is what WAS agreed. Completely ignoring them, regardless of our opinion, will risk creating a bad blow-back by various States, hitting our industry with punitive taxes in retaliation. It's not what we want, just highlighting the risks.
If this proposal goes ahead it will be a dereliction of environmental responsibility won over many years at @icao and @IATA. Moreover, it will backfire and give ammunition to those wanting to tax aviation heavily, impacting airlines' bottom line much more than CO2 offsetting.
@IATA urged the International Civil Aviation Organisation (Icao) to change the baseline from which emissions growth will be measured – a move it estimates could save airlines $15 billion in carbon offsetting costs.

4 years ago I had the privilege to be on the tarmac of JFK to watch the landing of @solarimpulse a plane only powered by solar energy. A few days later, the plane crossed the Ocean and completed its round around the world journey in Abu Dhabi @bertrandpiccard@andreborschberg

Global air #travel experienced historic plunge of 94.3% in Apr. 2020 compared to previous year.
However, first signals of uptick began at end of Apr., primarily in domestic flights. It is likely the beginning of a long process of recovery. #aviation

Cabin air renewed every 2 to 3 minutes, #HEPA filters and top to bottom air circulation ensure aircraft cabins are a safe environment.
Be in the know: watch how cabin air is kept clean from bacteria and viruses as it flows in and out of aircraft. #KeepTrustInAirTravel#COVID19
