We’ve renovated the bridge over the swale (soakaway) in our garden at Hindley and are just getting ready to nail the anti-slip mesh to it. Love the use of a recycled cricket boundary rope to give people a handle!
Thank you for the compliment, @SP_Pavilion! The garden at the Pavilion is where it all started nearly 10 years ago. From there we branched out to work in nature conservation and landscaping in around 45 locations, but we still grow the plants and mow the grass here!
Check out the amazing work ➡️https://t.co/vJSGXT5scR do onsite here at the pavilion full time, providing adults with learning disabilities with gardening activities ❄️🪴@GreenCrew1
Green Crew is taking part in the Christmas tree collection organised to raise funds for the Lancashire Mining Museum @mining_museum and Wigan and Leigh Hospice @WiganAnd
Today, we have been crown lifting trees at Leyland Park in Hindley. This brings more light and air to the woodland floor. It also improves visibility across the park and usually makes park users feel safer. It involves pruning away the lower third of branches on a tree.
This time of year the red stems on the dogwood inject their colour in the winter landscape. The path on Amberswood Common is part of National Cycle Route 55, which runs from Ironbridge to Preston (113 miles).
The last leaves are coming down now. It’s parky, but this crew is keeping warm in the winter sun, raking up weeping willow leaves from the entrance lawn at Lilford Park in Leigh.
THE reason Green Crew was nominated for COMMUNITY PROJECT OF THE YEAR at the #OurTownAwards22 is because of the work our crew members do in improving green spaces across the borough. They may be disabled, but they are also very able and willing. #ability
We love working with @GreenCrew1. You make a huge difference to local green and blue spaces, helping to make them safe and accessible places for people to enjoy, where wildlife can thrive.
Yesterday, the Flashes of Wigan & Leigh became a National Nature Reserve. Over the years, @GreenCrew1 have spent 1000’s of hours improving and maintaining access in multiple locations of the present NNR. @carbonlands @NaturalEngland@ForestryEngland@Lancswildlife@GroundworkCLM
