Our VP @Greene_DM: "according to [UMD] President Pines’s climate survey, 70% of UMD faculty feel uncomfortable w/ the campus climate & 51%, incl. myself, have considered leaving UMD...We keep one eye on the door bc it’s uncomfortable and nothing changes." https://t.co/wn3ZWjwZsL
Today I went to the USM Regents meeting and spoke for @UAM_UMD and in support of @UMD_GLU, who have supermajority support and are seeking voluntary recognition. Our working conditions are learning conditions. The right is coming for us all, management must work with us.
What do the election results mean for higher ed?
To quote Vice President JD Vance: "The professors are the enemy."
We must organize w/ @AAUP@AFTunion@AFTHigherEd to get ready for the coming Project 2025 onslaught on higher ed.

Nothing from @UofMaryland@President_Pines!
Don't count on your institutions to defend you in the coming onslaught on higher ed. Only way to protect ourselves is to organize, organize, organize!
Find out how to do this with us & @AAUP@AFTunion here: https://t.co/gDOFcMxVzc
Who is that rocking our new mission statement outside his office door?!?!
That is our VP @Greene_DM!
Join Dan & faculty of all ranks/types across U of Maryland & sign our mission statement: https://t.co/FehaQba8Fe
Together we will make UMD a better university for all!
@Salmonellys@UAM_UMD bargain to the last state employees without it. It only works if everyone does a little bit, so please dm me or email me at dan dot greene10 at gmail or send me a signal or WhatsApp or pigeon to plug in and organize. 3/3
@Salmonellys@UAM_UMD collaborating with our union siblings (staff and grads). Especially in spring, those members then join the year-round lobbying efforts by leadership across the state, AFT state & national, our union siblings, and allies in the legislature, to win the right to collectively 2/3
@Victoriantaddeo@UAM_UMD Strong agree, Julie. That's what the union is for: building that structure. It's a lot of work, that includes things like outreach and contact building or today's adjunct event. We need a lot of people. If you wanna plug in, just DM me here or email me at dgreene1 at umd dot edu.
We are building a union that unites faculty of all ranks & types to secure fair, equitable, & transparent working & learning conditions for all campus workers.
Want to get involved? Join our president @KarinRosemblatt in signing our new mission statement: https://t.co/FehaQba8Fe
I have been putting more announcements here lately because there's been a lot to announce but I'm not here except for that purpose because Twitter is broken and full of Nazis. Please move to Bluesky, which works like old Twitter and is largely Nazi free.
UMD lost its legal fight to ban SJP & JVP's vigil, but mass restrictions on free speech (sorry "expressive activity") remain. Today @UAM_UMD published an open letter with campus allies calling for an end to those rules and a return to dialogue and sanity https://t.co/lcCDoUlbhA
At Monday’s hearing, UMD Police Chief Mitchell testified that he takes Klan threats seriously, due to their propensity for extreme violence, and it was these racist threats from pro-Israel individuals that led him to recommend the uni bar SJP from holding its vigil on 10/07.
The 8th day of rain couldn't stop the party. Broke bread w union siblings from across UMD and announced that we are now aligned w faculty workers across the state & country as United Academics of Maryland UMD. We're the union for all faculty. We're gonna build a better university
Update: I have received a subjectless email from millionaire UMD donor, and Atlanta Hawks owner, Bruce Levenson, who objects to my description of him as a cranky Facebook uncle just bc he writes angry letters to faculty, with bosses CC'ed, and then fwds them articles for months
I'm in the Baltimore Sun today arguing for UMD's students and teachers and against the culture of fear administrators have imposed not just on protestors, but on everyone.
