Feeling the sun warming my face, being out tree planting in a t-shirt & seeing the first leaves unfurling on the hawthorn: this really felt like the first weekend of spring.

Whilst glad winter is drawing to a close, one aspect of being a river guardian is that there always feels like so much more to do before the arrival of spring. Here’s to a busy month ahead, before a summer of enjoying the beauty created this winter.

🔹No new correspondence has been received from the landowner regarding fire prevention measures.

Fab day tree-planting in Castle Green yesterday with many volunteers. As this Miyawaki Forest grows it will improve air quality, reduce CO2 & provide important wildlife habitat. Huge thanks to Sustainable Garden Solutions, Ventro Group & all who participated.🌱🌿🌳🐝🐾🪺🪶

Our first volunteer day of the 2025 season will be on 8th February, getting rid of the huge amount of litter that builds up on the Aldersbrook in Ilford & followed by some tree planting along the river.
