These kiddos now know what an overhead projector is! We are studying light, so we used it to compare opaque and transparent objects as well as make shadow puppets. So fun!

D.E.A.R. It was something special to pick a book from the teacher’s shelf. Students heard origins of some of my own books—some from family and friends, others from former teachers and mentors. Some of the pages I read as a first grader myself. My bibliophile’s heart is happy♥️

Our third grade neighbors made goods to sell. The first graders used their Cougar Paws to buy the items and were able to practice being consumers, learning from the producers along the way. What a great way to partner up and practice our learning on economics! @CH_3rdGraders

We’ve been busy reading gingerbread books and the first graders had fun building boats and bridges to help our little friend escape the fox in the river. Such great teambuilding!

Today we investigated how shadows move and change as a precursor for understanding weather and space concepts. We made a hypothesis, jotted down our observations, and questioned the accuracy of our predictions. Wow! They loved every minute of it👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

The first graders escaped the monsters today! I always love watching my littles using some of their biggest problem solving skills and thinking outside of the box as teammates. Six year olds are quite simply rockstars.
