I’ve driven in nearly every state. The condition of roads compared to CA’s made me appreciate the gas tax that keeps our roads in good shape.

Many ‘highways’ in FL are 2 lane, no dividers, no real shoulder and not in great condition to boot.

My fav are the ones with deep ditches on either side that fill during heavy rains & look like paved road.

Damn! Trump and today’s oligarchy class are drawing from a playbook straight out of the Civil War.

The wealthy plantation class manipulated working-class white people into siding with the Confederacy by exploiting racism and fear—even though slavery primarily benefited the rich.

📌 They convinced poor white people that their skin color gave them superior status.

📌 They pushed the narrative that freeing enslaved people would destroy the economy.

📌 They reframed the conflict as a noble fight for states’ rights and played on ideas of masculinity and honor, pressuring white men to fight for their “way of life.”

📌 They spread propaganda glorifying the Confederacy and vilifying the Union as oppressive invaders.

In reality, poor white Southerners had little to gain and everything to lose. The system of slavery kept wages low and opportunities scarce—for everyone but the wealthy elite.
